Benepass uses an algorithm to automatically classify your purchase to the most appropriate benefit balance.
What to know
The classification of your card purchase is determined by:
- Merchant billing details
- Eligible benefit categories
- Remaining funds
During a card transaction, the merchant provides information about what kind of store they are. Using that information, Benepass will assess which benefit allows purchases from similar stores, and whether there is sufficient balance to pay for the purchase.
When you have multiple benefits that meet those criteria, Benepass will determine a best fit classification. If that happens and you prefer that the transaction categorize elsewhere, you can reclassify it yourself: How do I move a transaction to a different benefit?
