Lifestyle Benefits

Can I transfer funds between benefits?

No, you cannot transfer funds between different benefits. Each benefit balance is separate and intended to be used for its designated purpose only.

Why?

Benefits are designed with specific purposes and tax implications in mind. For lifestyle benefits, your employer has crafted benefits specifically to meet different goals and needs. For pre-tax benefits like HSAs, FSAs, and transit benefits are regulated by the IRS with strict rules about fund usage. Each benefit type has its own eligibility rules, expiration schedules, and spending requirements.

What you can do instead

If you've made a purchase that should have been classified under a different benefit, you have options:

For transactions within the last 30 days: You can reclassify transactions between eligible benefits by:

  1. Navigate to 'Recent transactions' from the Home page
  2. Find the transaction
  3. Tap "Change benefit" to choose a different eligible benefit

For HSA-specific issues: If you accidentally spent HSA funds on a non-HSA purchase (or vice versa), contact Benepass Support with the transaction details (date, merchant, and amount). These require special handling since HSAs have separate accounts.

For reimbursements classified under the wrong benefit: Delete the reimbursement request and resubmit it under the correct benefit.

Common questions

What about my Parking or Transit funds?

In limited cases, resulting from special COVID regulations, you may be able to request a transfer of commuter funds from a pre-tax Parking benefit to a pre-tax Transit benefit. Please contact Benepass Support to inquire.

What if I need to combine benefits for a purchase?

Transactions can't be split between benefits. For purchases eligible under multiple benefits that exceed your balance in either, we recommend making the purchase with a personal payment method and submitting separate reimbursement requests for each eligible benefit up to your available balance.
