What is the HSA enrollment completion report?
This report shows the current application status for employees enrolled in a Health Savings Account.
This report helps administrators to identify employees who have not yet completed the HSA application process and whose accounts have not yet been fully opened.
What to know
After an employee elects an HSA and is enrolled through Benepass, they must complete an application to open an account with our banking partner.
If the employee does not complete this step, Benepass cannot deposit HSA contributions into the account.
To help avoid payroll and tax complications, HSA accounts that remain unopened for 90 days will be automatically closed due to inactivity. Employees receive weekly reminders to complete their application and notifications as the closure deadline approaches.
Administrators can use this report to monitor enrollment progress and identify employees who may need reminders before their accounts are closed.
Each status on the report indicates where an employee is in the HSA enrollment process:
Complete- The employee’s HSA is fully set up and ready to use. A customer ID has been assigned.
Awaiting Documents- Additional documentation is required to continue processing the application. The employee must submit the requested documents.
Incomplete – The employee has not yet submitted their HSA application.
Approved- The application has been approved, but account setup is not yet complete.
Denied-The application has been denied by the bank. The employee can contact our support team for help with next steps.
Closed- The HSA account has been closed.
Employees with a status of Incomplete or Awaiting Documents receive regular email reminders prompting them to complete their enrollment application and informing them of what additional documents are required, if applicable.
If the application is not completed within 90 days, the HSA account may be closed due to inactivity.
How to navigate the HSA enrollment completion report
This report displays the most recent status for each employee’s HSA enrollment. You can filter the report by Account closure date to find recently closed accounts.
This report can be exported to a .csv file.
