I added a receipt. Why does it still say "Needs Information?"

A "Needs Information" status means the uploaded receipt doesn't meet requirements or that additional details are needed to complete processing, such as a letter of medical necessity or proof of manager approval.

Common issues include the receipt not being itemized, missing key details such as merchant name or purchase date, and blurry or unreadable uploads.

Why?

Depending on your benefit, certain types of receipts and documentation are required to ensure compliance with your employer's policies or IRS policies.

If what you have provided does not meet the requirements of your benefit's policies, you will receive a notice from Benepass outlining the additional details needed from you to finalize processing.

For all expenses and transactions, please ensure the provided receipt is itemized and easy to read. It must show the merchant's name, the purchase date, the items or services purchased, the total amount paid, and the payment method used. Examples of incomplete receipts include proof of payment without details of the items or services, and invoices lacking dates and item descriptions.

Your transaction or expense will be reviewed again by the Benepass team. You can expect an update within 5 business days.

Which purchases will require a receipt?

To find out what purchases will require a receipt, check your employer's policy by heading to Accounts > Benefit > View overview.

Amount does not match the receipt

Ensure the receipt attached matches the transaction.

If your reimbursement was submitted with an incorrect amount, please delete it and submit a new request.

Receipt missing

Upload a receipt for this purchase.

Receipt missing date

Upload a receipt that shows the date the purchase was made, as well as a service date, if applicable.

Receipt is missing the purchase amount

Upload a receipt that shows the full purchase amount.

Receipt missing item(s) purchased

Upload a receipt that lists all item(s) or service(s) purchased.

Receipt missing merchant name

Upload a receipt that clearly shows the full name of the merchant where the purchase was made.

Unable to read the receipt

Upload a well-lit, legible receipt image in an accepted file type.

No eligible items(s) or service(s)

Upload a receipt for at least one item or service that is eligible, as described in the details for this benefit in your Benepass account.

Receipt requires additional details (Dependent Care FSA)

Upload a receipt from your care provider that shows the service dates, the type of care provided, the name of the care provider, and the amount incurred.

Receipt does not match the purchase

Upload the correct receipt for this purchase.

Request a letter of medical necessity from your healthcare provider and upload it to the transaction's "Receipt" section.

Service date missing

Enter the date(s) you received the service for your purchase.

Service date is either ineligible or inaccurate

Confirm that you have attached the correct receipt. Additionally, please confirm that the service date of your purchase is eligible according to your benefit policies.

Service date too early

Service date too late
